Welcome to the Amadeus

Sophie and Anthony set the scene for their wedding reception at the Amadeus using the newly painted columns to frame themselves . Very stylish. They stayed outside using the garden at the rear of the Amadeus for their drinks reception. Inside red was their theme colour which with a red colour wash on their banqueting style table centres and black candelabra the overall effect was stunning. Our 45 string pealight canopy was of course a given .as were the multitude of tealights on the dining tables. A thoroughly memorable occasion the memory of which they will treasure for years to come. Congratulations Sophie and Anthony and thanks for choosing the Amadeus for one of the best days of your lives.

Drinks Reception in the Amadeus Garden

A summer afternoon at the Amadeus allowed the use of the garden at the rear of the Amadeus. Tasting Plates set up a bar and in the midst of fine foliage and floribunda a fine time was had before guests returned to the Amadeus Upper Hall for the wedding breakfast to be followed later by a disco in the Lower Hall.

Art Deco Uplighters & Mirror Ball to match

Harking back to designs of the 1930's our Art Deco uplighters at the Amadeus produce a unique effect that can transform a venue. With a colour change for dancing and other lights being dimmed down their impact can be really stunning . Here we have used a filter that has a hint of pink producing a very welcoming and warm effect. On other occasions an attractive green filter helps to enhance the impact of flowers and foliage used as part of the setting. A static mirror ball is another great way of decorating the entire space. Later on of course it would be rotating transforming the space especially if the four spots on the mirror ball are in colours so that when guests return after the changeover they can be heard to say "gosh did we have dinner in here ".

London Calling

The clients were Spanish and having many family members coming from Spain wished to impress on their guests that they were now in London. Hence the gobo projection on the back wall of St Pauls, Big Ben and the post office tower. In addition the spotlit table centres were given the names of underground stations. For dancing we used s colour changer on the projection running through a total of six colours at varying speeds to suit the music. The colours of the table spotlights were also changed producing some great patterns on the floor and tables retained under the balcony.

Peonies & Pinspots

A beautiful choice of tones and colours for this wedding reception at the Amadeus. White cane dining chairs and white flowers with some lovely hints of green including RedCat's Art Deco up lighters and silver candelabra. The flowers are picked out using pin spots "like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day" to make the very best of the flowers and their effect on the setting. the majestic Amadeus pipe organ being up lit on this occasion adds a certain depth to the space

Tea Dance Wedding

Our up lighters were in Jade Green to complement both the palm fronds and the spot lit peonies. The seating plan is tastefully lit, an important practical consideration to ensure guest can easily identify their places. In five rows 130 guests were accommodated allowing 6 places per table which gives ample room to ensure your guests' comfort during the wedding breakfast.

St Patrick's Day celebration

Green organza wraps overlain by our fairy lights together with an exciting gobo projection on the back wall of the Amadeus delighted the client. Our 45 string pealight canopy played a crucial part in setting the scene complementing both the candles and the column fairy lights. Candelabra were also used in the alcoves and softly lit to enhance their effect. It was all change for dancing however with all lights being dimmed and a dramatic colour change being introduced as guests arrived following the caterer's changeover. Guest numbers were 130 in banqueting style.

Light Wall

A light wall at the Amadeus has a stunning effect and provides a great backdrop for a band or DJ. Our light walls and light curtains can be fully dimmed and adjusted to suit the various phases of the occasion. Standing 4 metres high they can reach 9 meters in height if required and be extended to whatever width is required. Using traditional incandescent bulbs they produce a warm light similar in colour to candles. Light walls can also be used horizontally to create light ceilings which RedCat has done at both the 176 Ballery in Chalk farm and the Union Club in Soho. with spectacular results!

Summer Flower Garden at the Amadeus

The beautiful simplicity of the Amadeus with the dining chairs complementing the panelled balcony, the majestic pipe organ and the delicate flower arrangements, carefully spotlit to bring them to life produced a truly delightful overall effect, much copied on other occasions. Gold candelabra enhanced the setting especially once guests were seated and were further complemented by the column fairy lights which having traditional filament bulbs produce a very warm light similar to that of the candles. Notice the top table has seats on both sides which helps to avoid the bridal party becoming spectators on their own event! Catering on this occasion was by Tasting Plates run by Martin and Sara Saxon who have been nassociated with the venue for more than twenty years and have the testimonials to prove it ! The scene changed from chalk to cheese as it were for the evening party with the tables being either cleared or moved to the sides when our narrow beam spotlights were given a colour change and lit both the tables and the floor area in a kaleidoscope of colour.

Regal Wedding Reception

The Amadeus in truly majestic style with both candles and columns creating a matrix of light. Candles complement any occasion producing the warmth of light that enhances both the setting as well as your guests. It is surprising how varied are the effects of lighting on the appearance of both guests and performers. At Redcat we use a range of filters when lighting features within a wedding or party setting to ensure their impact on the setting is maximised. This is particularly true of Indian wedding ceremonies which frequently employ statues to represent various deities which when lit almost come to life!

We love fuschia pink

Lee colour filter No 793 fuschia pink produces one of our favourite tones of pink and was used here to spotlight the table centres. Pristine white table cloths provide an excellent surface onto which colour can be projected as in this case where the table centres were complemented by the chair sashes. Likewise the alcove and window sill displays were similarly lit and two tone tealight holders were also used. Once the natural light disappeared later on it became a truly magical setting.

Madame's collapsing cake

A lovely occasion for a french bride at the Amadeus. Pink roses projected onto the back wall with a two tone pink colour wash on her sill displays of silvered twigs with micro fairy lights plus column fairy lights overwrapped with a gold translucent fabric The wedding cake was a very delicate affair using chocolate to hold it together . Unfortunately the heat in the room was too much for it and the chocolate started to melt. Food Events were catering and Anne their amazing manager handled the situation really well so that after shedding quite a few tears the bride was leading the dancing later on.

Tealights in White. wall lights in Blue

Our light wall in the Amadeus Upper Hall with deep blue up lighters set the scene for a special occasion. Our client used around 300 tealights to light their tables and the sills. The nice colour mix of deep blue, Lee 124 filter on a PAR 64 LED lamp and white fairy lights produced a very impressive effect. which was commented on throughout the evening by the couple's guests

Mirror ball Magic

We normally use a total of 4 spots with our large mirror balls which can either be in white, two tone white, white and a colour or all in colour(s). With the the mirror ball static for the wedding breakfast setting the room including the floor, walls and ceiling, is transformed at the flick of a switch using whatever colours or tones your heart desires. The white linen table cloths pick up the colours really well making for a very special look. For dancing the mirror ball or glitter ball rotates at 0.5 rpm which is just the right speed for the mirror ball to have the desired effect for dancing without appearing too fast which can be disorientating for your guests. Our pealight canopy was also in use on thos occasion set fairly dim so that it appears as stars in the sky.

All white gobo and stripes

Fabulous flowers in New York Fun City

To complement the flowers a blue colour wash was used to set the scene. The Amadeus fairy lit columns were wrapped with blue organza and we ulit the walls with LED uplighters combined with a Deep Blue filter to give exactly the write colour tone. The gobo on the back wall uses a stock pattern Rosco gobo of the New York skyline which set the tone and feel of the occasion, a 40th birthday party at the Amadeus. The tables together with the table centres were both lit requiring at least 3 pin spots per table, all discretely mounted in the Amadeus balcony.

The candles were never lit!

A themed birthday party at the Amadeus organised by Urban Caprice with RedCat supplying the lighting and decor. An intense time as UC decided where they required the balcony height muslin drapes. they eventually settled on one either side and a third on the wall behind the photographer. Uplit in soft tones the drapes provided a strong feature especially later on as the natural light faded and the flowers were spot lit which although small provided lovely touches of colour along the diniing tables. The candelabra whilst also presenting a dramatic feature within the setting were totally impractical dripping wax onto the tables. The client whose picture was featured on the back wall was very happy with the occasion. For 120 guests the Amadeus is a perfect space in which to comfortably accommodate this number of friends and relations.

Great Table Names

Art Deco uplighters at the Amadeus provided a great backdrop for this Barmitzvah. Beautiful table centres combined with imaginative table names created a very special feel for this occasion.

Vintage Plates by Tasting Plates

Clients and florists alike are often amazed at the impact their flowers can have on a wedding reception setting once the flowers are spot lit using halogen, narrow beam pin spots. For this reception at the Amadeus the dinner plates were similarly so attractive that they too benefited from being lit. The natural warmth of incandescent light bulbs brings colours to life, which provides a focal point for the human eye, thereby creating an ambience that takes both clients and their guests by surprise as they enter the room, turning customer satisfaction into customer delight!

Candles, column fairy lights and candelabra

A banqueting style table plan always adds a certain grandeur to the occasion and candles never fail to set an elegant tone as on thsi occasion for 140 guests when the row of candelabra enhance their effect of the setting. A static mirror ball "peppers" the room with dots of lights that enliven the feel of the Amadeus especially later on when the mirror ball is in rotating mode. the colour tones used here the natural effect of two halogen spots and two other having pale gold (Lee 152) filters which takes away some of the uniformity that can sometimes be the effect of a mirror ball especially when cold white LED spots are used. LED spot lights can however be great when used with a mirror ball since with DMX controls the lights can run through a sequence of colours ate varying speeds which for a party is very effective.

Desert Island or Jungle?

Theming at the Amadeus has taken many forms and on this occasion "jungle" was on the mood board. Wrapped in hessian with palm fronds attached the Lower Hall columns succeeded in setting the scene. The Amadeus with it's vaulted ceilings and multiple columns lends itself to imaginative use of the space. From Space Odyssey to Party with the Tsars the Amadeus has seen them all since it first started life as a venue in 1990. Prior to that date the building was owned by the Welsh Presbyterians, who after it's sale were on occasions delighted to return and see the building in good condition and not used as a warehouse. It does in fact retain its status as a place of worship.

The beauty of nature

We often say to clients if there is one thing you should consider when planning a reception it is lighting your flowers. After often spending large sums of money on table centres, bouquets and button holes it is a shame to see them placed in a sometimes poorly lit or on other occasions over lit space. Flowers need light not just to survive but also to look their best and using narrow beam halogen spots ensure that your displays achieve the impact that you would wish them to do, on the day.

RedCat Mandap at the Amadeus

Simple in construction but effective in appearance we created this Mandap for our client much enhanced by the delightful decoration of the Amadeus Upper Hall columns.

Florists Artistry

Florists have such a wonderful occupation creating beauty and style throughout the year which when their services are employed at the Amadeus allows us as lighting designers and technicians to make the most of their efforts and ensure that their work has the impact on the client's Big Day that creates memories of the occasion for a lifetime.

Just Married

What a clever idea, tealights in paper bags, so simple yet so effective, as are the tealights on the Amadeus window sills interspersed with the flower displays. Translucent wraps are used hear to over wrap the column fairy lights and with their gold pattern on display contribute to beautiful overall effect.

A Moroccan theme at the Amadeus

Black table linen worked well for this novel table layout. The muslin drapes contributed to the Moroccan theme, the tone being set bu the Arabic pattern gobo on the back wall chosen by the couple. the table centres were carefully lit with catering being supplied by a restaurant in Westborne Grove.

Orchids & Uplights

Our muslin drapes provide a great projection surface either for images or in this case for uplighters in fuchsia pink which complemented the table centres and tealights beautifully. We offer up to 6 sets of drapes including the back wall where backlit with fairy lights they create a delightful effect both for dinner and dancing. The addition of a coloured uplighter in front of the backlit curtain is great for changing the feel of the space for dancing.

Fairylit drapes

Muslin drapes backlit with fairy lights provide a really strong central feature. in this case complemented by wall uplighters which turn reflect the shape of the drapes. Tealights provide a simple but effective decorative effect in the alcoves especially when tables are not being used in the space under the balcony.

Full on Drapes and Foliage

Created by a BBC set designer this is a stunning example of innovation and inspired use of the space. The sunflowers set against the full height muslin screen add a real touch of summer to what was in fact a winter wedding reception. The presence of the panelled balcony at the Amadeus provides such a great facility when it comes to lighting or decorating the venue.

Narnia?

A splendid effect for a joint 21st birthday party celebration. Silvered trees entwined with dimmable fairy lights set the tone for a Narnia or even a Hogwarts like setting. Unfortunately the families involved had something of an argument and weren't able to agree on what should be done with the tables. Whether to us tealights or to light the flowers. In the event neither option was pursued so that the tables are less exciting than they might otherwise have been. On balance however it looked great and is one of our classic designs for the Amadeus

Another version of Narnia

A less than perfect photograph does not do this setting justice. It was however a truly splendid occasion with all the columns lit and overwrapped , 5 stem candelabra and our church window and door projections dramatising the Amadeus back wall.

Say it with flowers

Our flower gobos in blue and pink provided a dramatic setting for this Bar Mitzvah , the colour theme being continued with the use of coloured napkins and candles . Catering was via Tasting Plates

Erte swirl gobos

In house custom made gobos based on 1930's designs of Romain de Tirtoff who took the pseudonym, based on his initials of Erte. the Erte designs provided a unique style for this wedding reception at the Amadeus and the flowers were really brought to life by our pinspots . For dancing later on the Erte swirls changed colour providing a great backdrop for the band. the column fairy lights were dimmed down as was the pealight canopy above creating a great party atmosphere

White Miasma

A stunning example of the effect of lighting floral table centres. The client had not been certain until almost the last minute whether to use pinspots however fortunately for him and his bride decided to do so and for dancing we added colour to all the spots which transformed the effect pf the white flowers as they were turned to amber, pink, reds and mauve successfully complementing the DJ's disco lights

Moroccan Magic

A superb birthday party setting organised by Bovingdons wuth RedCat supplying the lighting. The low level tables and seating were carefully lit in complementary colours together with low level uplighters and a fabulous gobo on the end wall, chosen by the client. Some tremendous flower displays became real centrepieces for the space once they were lit, in colour to highlight their natural tones. Very exciting!

A Prize Buffet

A buffet to impress even those guests that have seen it all before. Key of course to its impact was the underlighting of the buffet table and the spotlighting of the flower and strong colours of the fruit displays. Occasional table lighting and wall uplighters used Lee filter 156 chocolate to a soft but mature feel to the space, which suited an older couple very well. It has been said by others and we agree that the two most important considerations when organising a party are the entertainment and the lighting. Guests are often not sufficienty relaxed enough to pay attention to the food, especially at a wedding when more than half the other guests are unknown. What does have an impact is how the venue looks and feels together with the quality of the entertainment.
